- Saturday, June 4, 10am-6pm: Repaint the Sunnyside Sunflower
For 15 years, Portland's historic Sunnyside neighborhood has come together to paint a sunflower in the heart of the community. This was one of City Repair's first projects that aimed to reclaim underutilized space and creating a vibrant gathering place. The 2016 repaint will happen on Saturday, June 4 from 10am-6pm.
A lot of planning and effort goes into making this happen every year. This year, Chrissy Mulkey and neighborhood members from the Portland Street Art Alliance are organizing the event. The Sunflower Planning Crew is in need of new volunteers for assistance with creating and overseeing the kid activity zone, managing food and paint, power-washing and sweeping the intersection the day before, installing two new planter barrels and planting flowers in the parking strips. If you are interested in volunteering, email SunnysidePiazza@gmail.com to sign up.

Happy 2016!!! Jan 6-8
Welcome back to school and our daily routine! I know we have all been having a wonderful time sleeping in, eating whenever we want....not showering...playing...yea! Now it's time to get back into our school flow. This week we will be revisiting our class agreements, sharing about our breaks, setting goals and basically getting into the flow of school life!
This is the year we dive deep into the ENERGY TEACH-IN!!! All month we will explore forms of energy, experience renewable and non renewable energy sources and participate in a week long Conference called....THE ENERGY TEACH-IN...thanks for being here for the journey
We are also starting a really fun Language Arts unit...The Hero's Journey!!! So get ready for a bunch of hero talk, reading great books and writing our own hero adventure.
Please be sure to check the blog daily and do your homework as well as be your best self in class :)
