Positive Change in the World....Service Assignment

Welcome to Service 2015-2016!!
This year we will all participate in service...in our classroom, school, community, as grade-based projects and on and on! Service is a wonderful way to give back to yourself and others. Please do the following in the back of your e-core immediately following your PINK service pages!

1. share the video we watched in class with your family and have a talk about service and what kinds of projects you are interested in and maybe a few you could do as a family

2. Go to the following websites and read a few articles and watch a few videos to see what folks are doing around the world to create positive change

3. Choose 1 current event of positive change in the world. You can print out at picture or the article or simply take notes in your service journal (back of your ecore)

c. Could you imagine doing something similar to this? why/why not?

Be prepared to share with classmates starting on Wednesday, Sept 23st.

- Read about your 1 aspect of the water cycle and write a 3-4 sentence summary on the notecard about its role in the water cycle - DUE THURS
2** Complete Ecore or reading assignment if not finished.

1. Writing - Complete "Going down the river of life" graphic organizer. Use as much detail and description of both the river feature and your life event/experience - Due Fri
2. Be prepared for field study to Johnson Creek Park tomorrow - check the weather...rain or shine:)

Thursday 9/17

3. My Life as a River - Use the graphic organizer to write your 3 rough draft vignettes.
   - use the river features as metaphor to describe your life events
   - use descriptive writing to show vs tell the reader about your life.
