Announcing a Gift Card Contest for October 2015
Eager to raise money for SES without spending any of your own money??
Then buying gift cards is for you! Do you shop at Fred Meyer, New
Seasons or Target? Eat at Burgerville, Pizzicato or McMenamins? When
you buy gift cards to use for groceries, restaurants, coffee and more,
the stores donate a percentage to SES but you pay the same amount for
the things you buy.
Where can you buy gift cards? Gift cards can be purchased at the gift
card table in the front hall on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, or you
can place a monthly standing order which means you can choose from
many more stores, restaurants and services, and pay directly from your
bank account instead of having to remember to bring a wallet to school
to make your purchase. (Minimum $200 on standing orders.) And gift
cards never expire.
But what's the deal with the contest? During the month of October,
the gift cards sales team will keep track of the gift card sales by
classroom, and classrooms will compete to see which one raises the
most money for SES.
What does the winning classroom get? At the end of the month the
classroom with the most sales will win an ice cream sundae party and
the teacher for that classroom will win $100 in Powells Books gift
cards to purchase books for the classroom. Monthly standing order
forms available in the office in the yellow envelope marked "Shop for
SES" and also on the PTSA website at
http://www.sesptsa.org/gift-cards/. And you can always just come by
the gift card table on Tuesday or Thursday mornings.
Since you have to shop anyway, you may as well raise money for SES
while you do it—without spending any of your own money!

HW: Camp Collins Ecore - due Thurs oct 8th
1. Nature Journal from Oxbow - Watercolor painting, follow the nature journal guidelines (most of you have already turned it in!)
2. Describe in detail how the forest and salmon depend on each other. use evidence from at least 3-4 camp collins classes.
3. Compare and contrast 2 different biological cycles at work. Describe the cycles, where you saw evidence of them, and how they are similar or different (salmon life cycle, forest succession, photosynthesis etc.)
4. Essential Question: How is interdependence alive in the forest and river? (your creative piece is your nature journal!)

-Wear red on Wednesday or if you don't have a red suit or shirt just wear black or gray!
- Thursday Field Study - Reed College Cooley Art Gallery....If we transition quickly we can eat lunch in their fabulous cafe!!! You are invited to bring $$ for a full lunch, a drink, a treat, or pack your own lunch and enjoy it in their cool cafe :)

Camp Collins Homework
Hi Everybody,
What a great job you all did at Camp Collins! I hope you had an amazing time and learned how to answer our Essential Question: How is the interdependence alive int he forest and river?
This weekend - I want you to do assignment questions 2 & 3 - this will help you come up with ideas for the Essential Question!
Note: On question 2, you DO NOT have to answer for each rotation...but choose at least 3 :)
Sorry I didn't sent this out last night - I feel asleep by 7pm!!! Hope you all got great rest too. See you on Monday and we will work on the rest of the assignment together.
