Hi Everybody...It's a super short week, so we are going to pack it in so we can all take a great break!

8th Graders: Franklin High School invites you to join them on Wednesday, December 9, from 6:15pm-8pm at the Marshall Campus, located at 3905 SE 91st Avenue.

  • The first payment which is the deposit to let the school know that your child is attending, was due on November 1. If you have sent in your payment, thank you! If you have not sent in your payment, please make arrangements to do so as soon as possible. (If needed, please contact Kristy or Amy in the office to make alternate payment arrangements. You can also pay online.)
     
  • The next payment for the trip is $435, due December 4. See Kristy in the office to pay by check, or pay online using a credit card.
     
  • The final payment amount is still to be determined and will be due on March 7, 2016. The amount will be at least $435, but may fluctuate due to transportation costs and final number of participants.

1. Writing: Final Draft Indigenous & Immigrants - DUE Wed 25th - Please work on this this eve and submit it in the Google Classroom TONIGHT before going to bed so I can  give you feedback tomorrow while you are at PE & ART. Then I will return it to you so you can work on it some more Tuesday night. It is very important to participate in the writing processs! If you are not done Wed, you have homework over the break! SO please get caught up! Please let me know if you do not have internet access so we can make an alternate plan!

2. River Story - Immigrant Illustrations - Draw 1 full page illustration for the Immigrants on your river. Be sure to include the most important aspects of life on the frontier. Draw 1 page BOARDER 1 - 1 1/2" border of settler life. Remember, this is where your story will be printed, so be prepared by Wed so you can put together your final product. - DUE Wed 11/25

1. Writing - complete Graphic Organizer for river story - indigenous & immigrant(settler) pages & start writing rough drafts on the graphic organizer. - DUE FRIDAY
- you may need to do some more research if your research pages are not enough

2. DAM reading! - Read 1 article and take notes in the graphic organizer - DUE WED

Wed 18th

FRIDAY NOV 20th
1. Writing - Due Monday - Have a solid typed rough draft of your river story for Indigenous and Immigrants.  If you can't type, have a nice handwritten draft. Be ready for peer review on Monday.

2. Ecore - Bonneville Dam - Read the 2 new articles. Important Information - 3 hightlights and 3 notes on the side. Then use all our experiences and articles to answer the 4 Essential Questions. - Due Monday

3. Service - buddy worksheet - take a few minutes to reflect on what it means to be a buddy and why we have buddies! - Due Tues.

November 9-13

Mural Slideshow - click here -  use this slideshow to help you develop your river feature for the mural.
Requirements: 
1. Mural Visual - create a collage of your river feature that flows with our river mural - it should include all the elements that make your feature possible
2. Information 
- options: river feature flap, small poster w/string to the feature, pop up, slide to the side
- include: how feature is formed and interacts with 2 other features, how it affects the river, habitat, water quality etc
3. Work as a team with your partner. Equal research, design, writing, problem solving etc.
